MSDC
Middle School Design Contest

Directed by Rachael Jabusch

This year the Middle School Design Contest (MSDC) has changed its challenge from last year's cardboard constructed soap box derby race to a model roller coaster design contest. Each team of up to four students will construct a model roller coaster that is designed to take a single glass marble and complete a full run with as creative of a track as the team designs. To gain the highest score, teams must learn the physics behind how real roller coasters work to build their model roller coaster to run for the longest time with the toughest loops and an overall theme. The team to master the simple principles of gravity and conservation of energy with an added spark of creative will win the contest.

When and Where

The Middle School Design Contest is going to be on Saturday, March 8th due to many schools having conflicts with standardize testing on the normal date of Friday. We ask that teams please arrive at 10am (or earlier) and come to the MSDC tent located besides Engineering Hall and Material Science and Engineering Building on Green Street.
